Going into this weekend, I knew I needed to get away. I hadn’t planned anything and I had less than 24 hours to get something together. I found Highland Haven and was dead set on retreating there. I contacted them and within hours I had a place to stay!
I took off to Evergreen, CO where I took on Bergen Peak. This mountain is one of the Colorado Rockies Six-Pack Challenge, which is why it was on my bucket list. The mixture of winter and spring was absolutely beautiful and I was surprised by how many people I passed by on the trail!
Tired, sweaty, and ready to relax; I headed to Highland Haven next which is only a short drive from that trailhead. I passed through the cutest little town, full of shops and breweries, and then finally turned into Highland Haven. You cross this awesome little bridge and enter literally a haven! The style and rustic nature was beautiful and the entire place sat right next to a creek.
I was greeted by the ladies at the front desk and immediately felt welcomed. They told me they had complimentary breakfast… and happy hour! We headed to my personal cabin and all I wanted to do is read by the fire and sip some wine. Well after a few hours I was doing just that.
I decided to explore the property and all it had to offer. I found one of those iconic tree swings and probably spent a good hour swinging, enjoying a beer, and watching the sunset. Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening. I then headed to the Revival Brewery and met some amazing people. Tired and with a smile on my face I then retreated back to my haven and slept soundly.
